How To Make Money With A Photography Hobby

How To Make Money With A Photography Hobby

How do you make money from photography when it is your hobby? I can say for sure almost everyone I know owns a camera, because almost everyone I know has a cell phone. I can tell you, that they do not utilize it for making a profit, even though it can be very easy, and you are taking pictures anyways, so you might as well use them.

Here's a few ideas on how to turn pictures into cash.

Sell your photos as posters and hard copy prints.

A good website to look at is 500px.com notice how much each photographer is charging for different prints.

Selling your photographs as prints can bring in some money, and it can be as simple as an upload.
But the truth be told, people do not often buy prints. I can not say they are never purchased, because they are, but it can be a long wait until payday.

If you are going to try this avenue of sales, look for a reputable company, as about their commissions that you would have to pay them, ask about their support desk and how easy are they to get a hold of if you have a question, and don't forget to check into the refund policy, and how it is handle if someone wants to return a print they have purchased from you.

The traditional stand by of selling microstock photos can take your hobby to a business also.

Taking stock pictures has never been simpler. The program is easy to go out and take interesting and unique photographs of various landscape, scenes and subjects. Than upload them to a stock site such as Istockphoto.com and then wait for blogger or article writer to purchase the image.

Internet marketers, writers and all sort of website developers are looking for all types of pictures. More than you can image. Some need nice clean pretty shots of nature, others need messy streets an alleys, some need people, children, buildings, meadows, cows and weather conditions.

If you can think of it, someone somewhere needs a stock photo of it.

As a hobby photographer you may have investigated the world of microstocks, and have either discovered on your own or read the stories and blogs about how difficult it can be to get accepted to one of these agencies.

That's why my favorite success story is played out in the video below. Start out by selling simple everyday scenes for a small fee, sometimes less than a dollar, but it can be more. Many, many people are willing to pay a dollar or change for the right to use an image. You maybe surprised how quickly your sales add up, and how many of your pictures will sale. You may even get repeat clients.

And remind yourself, someone, somewhere needs a photo of a branch, a trash can, anything! The world is your oyster, Now watch the video below.
